About Us

Guest Instructors: 

Blue Monarch Art Center was founded by Owner and Art Instructor, Catherine Griffin. 

Catherine was raised in an artistic environment and has created art all her life.  Her studies have included acrylic painting, print making, pottery, mosaic, and culinary arts.  Her teaching experience is diverse, and includes teaching classes at her own studio Blue Monarch Art Center, Ella Sharp Museum, Pioneer School, SAS, Cary Academy, Cary Art Center. 

Throughout college, raising a family and community involvement, Catherine's approach to art education has been shaped by her belief that art should be accessible to all. She nurtures this process by providing students with the tools, techniques and basic foundations to express their own individual ideas. 
Along with exhibiting, and selling her own work specializing in representational and abstract painting and , Catherine has directed many community collaborative art projects. 

She is a co-founder and past president of the Jackson Pottery and Clay Guild, Co-founder and past president of the Earthworks Art Center and a founding member of Cultural Organizations of Jackson, (COJAX) Jackson, MI. 

Past Co-President of Clayworks Pottery Guild and currently Owner/Instructor of Blue Monarch Art Center, Cary, NC.
